The Hut Gift Shoppe

Slayton's quaint gift store has added so many wonderful items this year. I could spend hours just browsing and still miss something. But what's this? Could it be the "Serenity" series by "yours truly" made it into one of their photos? (bottom right).

When my daughter gets the photos from my book signing to me, I can show the Left Bank Cafe, a few doors down from The Hut.

We have a fun little town with awesome stores to shop in!

Master of Destiny

It's here! The 2nd book in my Serenity series is now available!
On Feb. 12, I'll be doing a book signing at a local coffee shop, the Left Bank Cafe. It's a quaint little eatery, friendly staff, great food and beverages.

I think my co-workers are scared they'll be characters in my next book. It would be a heckuva comedy to write about the 19 men I work with...21 years worth of stories...hmmm

The media found me!

I received a phone call last week from a local newspaper reporter. She'd received a tip from a friend about my book and wanted to interview me. As I don't like to be the center of attention, I hesitated. But, I swallowed my insecurites and agreed to answer her e-mailed questions. The next day, she called and we met for lunch and had a nice talk. Two days later, my story and full-color photo made the front page of the paper. Wow, now I know how celebrities feel! It's a little disconcerting and I'm still not fully comfortable allowing others to read my work. It's like bearing my soul for the world to see. But, I'll get over it. Book sales have definitely picked up because of the story and people are stopping me on the street, church, work and congratulating me. So, thank you Trish and Naomi for forcing me to step out of my comfort zone!

Master of Destiny

The second book in my series, "Master of Destiny", has been sent to my "editor" and read through. She's giving it positive reviews as far as story line. "I have such wonderful pictures in my mind with this whole story," is one of her comments, as well as "I also had tears at a few different points in this book". Several corrections need to be made, including the ending, which I'm struggling with. Any ideas for a book cover? I'm leaning toward a piano this time.

Looking forward to getting this out for you all to read so I can continue with book #3!

Found a few minutes to jot a blog before running to an indoor marching band concert. (What can I say? It's Minnesota).

As you may know, I'm a writer, but I have other interests too. One thing I've always wanted to do is paint a picture. (stupidly, I didn't take art class in high school...one of my regrets). In 2009, a local town had a one day Bob Ross oil painting class. Yes, the guy with the afro, painting "happy bushes" on PBS. My sister and I did the class in the spring and in the fall. Loved it! If I had more wall space, would paint more. But 2 is enough, for now.

What goals/dreams have you accomplished?

Welcome!

Greetings to book lovers, fans, potential fans or the curious few who happened to stumble upon my blog! As I am a "virgin" blogger, please have patience with my skimpy site. I will be adding to the site, so don't forget to come back!
